We awoke Saturday at Andrew’s new place in Revelstoke to 5cm’s of snow on the ground and it didn’t take us long to head to the Modern Bakery for breky, coffee and lunch to go. Classic Revi.
An hour and a bit of driving later we rolled in to the Roger’s Pass visitor centre and enquired about permits and closure areas. The group decided Mcgill would be a good bet so we headed back west with our permits in hand. Coverage at the parking lot was bleak and it didn’t really improve for another 1500 ft. The 6 of us(Colvin and Julie skied the opening day at Mt Revelstoke Resort) skinned through blowdown, rowdy hemlock swells and all variety of coastal style funk.
Things really started to look good up higher though, trail breaking got more difficult and the snow started to pile up.
We scouted our lines and quickly pointed the skis downhill. I swear Mcgill is some of the best gladed skiing at the Pass. The skiing was phenominal and we had no problems rallying 3 laps before heading home to Golden tired, happy and satisfied. Another great day getting to know everyone on the team better and sharing some good turns.
