Calgary Outdoor Festival

Reiner, ready to schmooze

Reiner and I just spent the weekend spreading the word about ski-mountaineering racing at the Calgary Outdoor Festival trade show.  Armed with a mannequin dressed in a race suit, slide shows, cool looking carbon fiber race gear and our own unique brand of charisma we manned our booth and talked to anyone who’d listen.

I was really impressed with the public interest we received and heard a few people say that they’d always wanted to enter a race but didn’t know enough about it.  To that end we successfully recruited a gaggle of folks to enter the VERT 180 race at Calgary Olympic Park November 26th and intrigued more into the later season’s larger races.

Many thanks to John at Golden Alpine Holidays for donating part of his booth to us, the inside beta on the “Selkirk Classic” is there’s only 4 spots left, and they won’t last!  These shows are a great place to make industry contacts and we were stoked with how many folks came out to show their support for the team and canadian skimo.
